The Eritrea-Ethiopia Claims Commission held the second round of hearings in the damages phase of its proceedings at the Peace Palace from May 19 to 30, 2008. The first round of damages hearings was held in April 2007. The Commission, which was established by the Algiers Agreement of December 12, 2000, held four rounds of hearings on the merits of both Parties’ claims between November 2002 and April 2005, and issued thirteen partial and two final awards following those hearings. Final awards will be rendered by the Commission following the completion of the damages phase of the proceedings.
